New York Art Department is pleased to announce the publication of Luck You Zine #03: You by the Chinatown-based artist group Luck You Collective. Join us at The Hole Shop on Thursday, September 6th, 6pm to 9pm for the release party and special performance by experimental hiphop band RATKING at 7:30pm.
Luck You Zine #03: You is the result of an open-invitation zine workshop hosted by New York Art Department and Luck You Collective at The Hole Gallery in July of this year.
The workshop welcomed friends and strangers alike to create artwork for the next Luck You zine. Upon arrival, participants were offered a choice of canvases to use as the basis for their artwork: 5.5”x 8.5”photocopies of original artworks submitted by seventeen curated artists—some members of Luck You Collective, others invited by New York Art Department.
Artists Baron Von Fancy, Clayton Patterson, Craig Costello, FAFI, Jack Shannon, Jesse Edwards, JIM JOE, Kevin Lyons, Kostas Seremetis, Kunle Martins, Lorenzo Bueno, PIXOTE, R©B 1970, Safwat Riad, Sean Vegezzi, Todd James, and Tristan Reginato contributed photocopies of black and white drawings for participants to create original works of their own using collaged materials provided by New York Art Department.
The workshop resulted in over one hundred original, anonymous, and collaborative works, the highlights of which are included in Luck You Zine #03: You.

Luck You Collective is a support system for the various endeavors of a group of young artists from New York City. What started as group art shows in friends’ lofts, soon grew to video installations, zine publishing, clothing and most recently, art workshops. Utilizing venues from Colette in Paris and the Museum of Moving Image in New York City to their own basement studio in Chinatown, Luck You Collective is diverse and mutable. It is held together by the shared initiative to make original work and present it in a context that reflects the energy that went into its creation.
